Concerning Jeremy
I am a Web/graphic designer currently making my home in Smithfield, Rhode Island alongside my wonderful wife, two overly energetic young children, and an extremely affectionate wiener-dog named Oscar.
I am employed as Creative Director for the Providence, RI based technology company Envision Technology Advisors and although I rarely take on freelance projects these days, I am always happy to hear from clients in need of my services (and am always willing to point them in the right direction to have their needs met). I have been working full-time in the field of Web design since 1999, but at one time or another I have also been the owner of a toy/comic shop, a children's book author, a tattoo artist, a store manager at a McDonalds, the lead singer in a rap/metal band, a real estate agent and part of the IT department at a vocational high school.
In addition to my full-time gig with Envision, I have also recently begun teaching Web design/HTML/CSS at the University of Rhode Island as part of their Intro and Advanced 'Print Media & Web Design Certification' programs.
During the little spare time I have, I can often be found tending to my collection of action figures – which have taken over an entire room of my home and, without the continued vigilance of my wife, will certainly begin to attempt to overthrow the rest of the house sometime soon.
I take great pride in the fact that I recently taught myself to juggle, but I wish I knew how to perform magic (either the Penn & Teller kind of magic or the Harry Potter type - either would be acceptable).
As I've already mentioned, I've tried my hand at writing in the past (under the name ‘Jeremy Marc Girard’) and have had two children’s books published as well as a number of short stories recognized in national writing competitions.
A Quick Note on the Work
Through both freelance projects and my employment with other companies over the years, I have had the privilege to work with a variety of clients from a host of different industries. I've designed projects ranging from Web sites to print and marketing materials to touchscreen kiosk user interfaces and digital signage content. My client list includes widely recognized names including PepsiCo, Frito Lay, Universal Studios - Hollywood, The Washington Redskins, The Phoenix Coyotes, Books-a-Million and the US Customs Department as well as many local, Rhode Island-area companies such as Amica, Kahn, Litwin, Renza & Co., the Rhode Island Health Center Association, MG Commercial Real Estate, and Roger Williams Zoo.
About This Site
Pumpkin-King.com, now in its eight iteration, was started in 1999 as a showcase for my design work. This latest version eschews the Flash work that had dominated this site for a number of years in favor of a tableless design that uses CSS for layout and ExpressionEngine as the publishing platform.
