I am Thankful for Coffee
I like coffee. At the Envision offices, I am able to indulge my love of the magical coffee bean through our Keurig machine and a very impressive array of caffeinated beverage choices (we have 21 flavors as of this writing). Unfortunately for me, my favorite flavor of coffee is (somewhat fittingly) ‘pumpkin spice’, a limited edition flavor that is only available for a short time. I can only enjoy my favorite flavor during the months of Autumn, or can I?
Giving the Gift of Coffee
With the Fall months winding down, the availability of pumpkin spice coffee was nearing an end. As our supply of this flavor dwindled and I prepared to wait until next year to enjoy it again, the admin team at Envision gave me a little surprise - a whole case of pumpkin spice coffee, 12 boxes jam packed with delicious caffeinated awesome.
It’s little things like this that make Envision a place I love to come to work at every morning.
Loving Your Work
Earlier this year, after Envision had been named one of the ‘Best Places to Work in Rhode Island’ by the Providence Business News, I wrote a blog post on what made it such a great place to be employed. Missing from that post, however, were the little things like this that are so important. How something as simple as someone remembering that I liked this flavor of coffee, and ordering extra of that flavor for me, really makes a difference.
I can remember, as I was growing up, being told how important it was to find a job that you enjoyed doing. One thing I don’t recall being told, however, was that is was equally important to find a place to do that job that you loved as well.
As I’ve gotten older, and my job has become my career, I have realized that if you want to be truly happy with what you do for a living, you have to have both work you love and a place you love to work.
Giving Thanks
For this Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to contribute a blog post about the things I am thankful for. I am, of course, thankful for my family and friends, my health and my home and all the blessings I have been given, but I am also inclined to acknowledge my thankfulness of the work that I do and the place that I am able to do it.
I am thankful that I am able to do something that I love to do. I am thankful that I am able to do that work for a company that I respect and am proud to work for. I am thankful that I am surrounded by co-workers whom I admire and am able to consistently learn from. I am thankful that I am happy and I am thankful for pumpkin spice coffee.
Happy Thanksgiving.
