Remember Me?

I really did have the best of intentions when I posted the latest version of the Web site a few weeks ago.  I put a system in place to allow me to quickly and easily update the site and add new content, in the form of posts to the Pumpkin Seeds blog, regularly.  With a handful of initial entries ready from the start and another posted a few days after launch, I was in great shape…then life intervened.

Since launching the site about five weeks ago, I have proceeded to move my family into a new home, take a vacation to Disneyworld, wrap up a handful of projects for Envision, attend An Event Apart in Boston and find myself faced with a deluge of new client work.  Needless to say, the past few weeks have been busy and this site has suffered because of it.

The good news is that this busy schedule has left me with plenty to write about and I am working on a number of new entries now, but in the meantime, I thought it would make sense to post a few updates.  This also sets the stage nicely for housekeeping posts such as this – entries that won’t really have the same level of design customization applied to them as others since they are less about a specific idea and more about a quick look into what’s happening with me now.  Things like:

  • I am now on Twitter.  It seems like I can’t go anywhere all of a sudden without hearing someone talking about Twitter.  An Event Apart last week was particularly brutal.  Twitter was everywhere.  The fact that I was not using Twitter made me feel more lame than usual.  Not cool…so I am now on Twitter.  Follow me and help me feel cool again. @jeremymgirard
  • My job kicks ass.  I wrote about exactly why here.
  • As a frame of reference for that blog post, Envision was recently recognized as one of the ‘Best Places to Work in Rhode Island’ by Providence Business News – a recognition that carried with it a very nice plaque, an excellent dinner where said plaque was presented and a very cool write up in the PBN (all of which prompted me to create the above mentioned entry about why Envision is awesome).
  • Regarding the aforementioned projects that have wrapped recently, one that I am particularly proud of is for the Rhode Island Health Center Association.  This project has recently been added to my portfolio, where you can read more about it.
  • Other recently launched projects that I had a role in, but which are not included in my actual portfolio, include Brown University Rugby (for which I contributed the design and XHTML/CSS page builds), BrightStars (design of the subpages and search functionality of the site as well as the build of the initial XHTML/CSS templates that were later turned into .NET), and RT Engineering (design of the site and build of the XHTML/CSS templates).

And that’s all for now!  My hope is that I will be able to add more entries like the first few featured on this site, and less like this one, soon…at least that’s the plan, unless life intervenes yet again!
