Project Summary

Global Cleaning provides emergency restoration and disaster clean-up services to all of Rhode Island as well as surrounding communities in Massachusetts and Connecticut. They came to Envision Technology Advisors as one of those rare clients who have been in business for some time (over 25 years in this case), but have yet to take that business online and develop a Web site.

With no existing online brand to be mindful of or consider, we were able to really work with this client to come up with a visual design and an online approach that would help them realize their goals of expanding awareness of their company and driving users to call their phone number for services.

Like all projects at Envision, this was a team effort, but for this client I was actually responsible for the majority of this job - from initial client meetings through the design of the site and the creation of the markup and CSS for the pages. This is one project that I was able to really take from concept to completion with the help of a great client.

One item on the site that I was not too crazy about at first, but which I have come to appreciate, is the ‘ripple effect’ in the upper right hand corner of the design. That element was originally the client’s idea and I found it a bit ‘hokey’ at first and reluctantly agreed to create it. That being said, the client’s goal was to drive attention to their phone number, and user feedback showed us that eyes were immediately drawn to the Flash ripple effect, and hence the phone number. So hokey or not, that effect did help achieve the client’s goals, which is something I can always get behind and support. As such, that ripple animation has grown on me and it feels right now.
