Project Summary

Working at Envision Technology Advisors has allowed me to do a great deal of work for Kahn, Litwin, Renza, & Co., including a number of print ads and trade show displays as well as the company's Web site, which was launched in 2009. The new site was so well received, and the process of working with Envision so enjoyable, that it wasn't long before the company decided that one of their service arms, KLR Executive Search, was in need of a redesign as well. Having designed KLR Executive Search's previous site many years ago, we too agreed that it was high time for a refresh and we jumped at the chance to work with this client again.

While all projects at Envision are team efforts, some require more of a team approach than others. This project was one that required all hands on deck. I contributed the design of the site and I built out all the XHTML and CSS page templates. One key feature of this project was being able to integrate a 3rd party application called Bullhorn into the site. The team at KLR use Bullhorn to manage their opportunity and candidate leads, so to avoid double entry of the same data, we wanted to find a way to grab that data directly from Bullhorn and feed it to the site, where we could then style it visually according to our guidelines. The .NET development team at Envision took my page templates and turned the project into a .NET site that had full integration of the leads right from Bullhorn, giving this company not only a fresh new look, but also saving them time by using the tools that they already had in place to populate the site's most important content - the listings of available jobs and candidates.

As part of my design for this site, I designed the main branding messages that appear on the homepage. I knew these would eventually be animated using Flash and I had very specific ideas as to how I wanted this animation to run. I presented these ideas to another designer at Envision, Sarah O'Donnell, who took my concepts and improved upon them ten-fold. When I first saw the animation in place, I was blown away - and so was the client.
