Project Summary
I met The Computer Doctors (back in their ‘pre-med’ days, before they were doctors) years ago during my employment with the kiosk-solutions company MontegoNet. An excellent working relationship and friendships were quickly formed and I did a few early design projects (mostly print and marketing materials) for this newly formed technology services company.
As the company grew and added a web design wing to their offerings, I began to work more and more with The Computer Doctors. To that end, I was thrilled in early 2008 to be asked to redesign the company’s website.
By the time I began this project, I had been working with the company for some time and I had a feel for the visual tone of the organization. Actually, by that point I had been doing all their internal design work for some time, but their website had been created prior to me coming on board, so that was the one area that I had yet to contribute to from a design standpoint.
Visually, the old site needed to be refreshed, but the driving factor that really drove the redesign was the company's growth and the expansion of the services they offered, including standards-based website design, which had quickly become one of The Computer Doctor's key offerings. I really wanted to create a site that would reflect these new offerings and the innovative environment of the company itself.
Like many of the projects I would work on for The Computer Doctors, with this site I was responsible for the overall design as well as the XHTML and CSS templates for the pages. The Computer Doctors then integrated a CMS, allowing them to maintain and update the site as needed. Additionally, I contributed most of the copy writing for this project.
